For roughly the price of a large truffle, you can go to Italy and find one for yourself. We run truffle-hunting weekends in the Abruzzo National Park in Italy. For £480pp you get a Friday-to-Sunday break including two nights’ accommodation in a fantastic authentic hotel, complete with organic breakfast and dinner; wine, olive oil, and cheese tastings; a cookery class and the truffle hunt itself. The time we spent on the Truffle Tour with Francesco and his friends was the best short-break holiday my wife and I have ever been on. (And we have experienced lots!). The whole break was organised and carried out to perfection, but with an atmosphere of informality, friendship and flexibility that greatly enhanced the whole experience. Whilst the event is titled 'Truffle Tour' (and all the activities are great) it seemed to us to be more about Francesco and Robertino expressing their pride in, and love of, their beautiful region of Italy; and we were fortunate to share it with them.
We will definitely be going back, this time with some envious friends; so, in summary, we cannot recommend this Tour highly enough.
